Still Intimate With Ex

My ex and I are still friends however we still act as if we are together and are intimate when we see each other. I still love her a lot and she said she cares for me. She has told me that I make her sick, but not in a bad way and that she dislikes and likes me at the same time. It makes me confused because I have no idea what she is thinking and I think she likes it that way. We were engaged before and she broke up with me because of the intense love/feelings she was having for me made her feel like she neglecting school(she is working on her Masters Degree) and other things. I have not been with any other person since I have known her and as far as I know she has not been with anyone else either and I trust her. I believe that we will be together again at some point, however I don’t want to feel like I have been wasting my time either because if I say anything to her about it, she acts as if I am wrong for saying that. She has told me that she has never used me or but it can be hard to not feel that way when you are not together, yet still being intimate. In closing I just believe that right now with her focus on school she is not ready to be emotionally connected. What do you think about my situation?

Sounds like you are sensitive to her situation (busy with school etc.) which is good. Perhaps you are right. She has adjusted her focus somewhat away from your relationship. Remember life is a moving target and there are no guarantees, so “wasting your time” is a not really the case. Take it for what it’s worth and deal with the situation as it exists today. It sounds like you both care for each other so unless you need more involvement in the relationship or you totally can’t deal with it, just see where it goes. Maybe the waters will smooth out and your relationship will get stronger once some of life’s pressures recede. Good luck.
