I Feel Betrayed

I feel so betrayed! My husband has been working as a chef on a yacht for 8 months now due to our financial position. I was going through our cell phone bill and saw that he frequently called the same number. I asked him about it he got caught in a lie. He says he ran into a old colleague from work in Martha’s Vineyard and since then they have been talking at all times morning, afternoon and late at night. He has said they are just friends but I feel betrayed. He talks for longer periods than he does with me. We have been married for 8 years with 2 little girls ages 5 and 4. He will be coming home tomorrow to discuss this issue, which in my mind could break up our marriage.
Before you jump to conclusions find out more facts, which you seem to be going to do. Admittedly it seems like something more is up than talk and you certainly have a right to feel somewhat betrayed. You won’t know until you get the specifics and even then it might be a credibility issue. But they might just be friends. How would you feel if it were a guy he was talking to? He may have no romantic feelings for her. Stay as unemotional as you can. Not only will you be able to ask better questions, you’ll also be better able to decipher his answers and be more in control.

Allow your husband to explain what is going on before u decide to end your marriage. Often times our partners feel more comfortable talking to someone outside of our relationships to get a clearer ,unbiased opinion or view of what is going on. Marriages have ups and downs and jumping to the conclusion of ending it because of the incident wouldn’t be fair to your children, you or your husband. Listen to what he has to say before you make a mistake
